How to spot Santa in Hampton Roads’ airspace

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s Santa flying over Hampton Roads! Santa Claus is expected to take flight in a Navy helicopter for Hampton Roads’ annual tradition.

For the past two years, Santa has taken flight ahead of Christmas with the help of the Fleet Angels of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC).

This flight is used as training for Navy helicopter pilots and helps spread Christmas cheer throughout Hampton Roads. 

Looking overhead during the flight, you can see a large Navy helicopter with Santa waving out the side to the people below. 

This year’s flight will take place on December 7. 

Here is Santa’s schedule:

10 a.m. – Takeoff at Norfolk Naval Base

10:05 a.m. – Patrick Henry Mall

10:15 a.m. – Riverpointe Shopping Center

10:20 a.m. – Bolling Avenue

10:25 a.m. – Town Point Park

10:35 a.m. – Mount Trashmore

10:45 a.m. – Cox High School

10:55 a.m. – Lesner Bridge

11:05 a.m. – Fort Story Base Housing

11:15 a.m. – King Neptune Statue

11:20 a.m. – Princess Anne Woods

11:30 a.m. – Greenbrier Mall
