Sustainability tips

If you’re unable to attend an event, consider doing your part by living sustainably.

Minimize waste

Help reduce pollution by minimizing the amount of waste you produce. UNICEF encourages reducing non-biodegradable waste, such as plastic bags, water bottles, and straws. Instead, go for reusable alternatives.

Reduce atmospheric emissions

Reduce your carbon emissions by carpooling or taking public transportation when possible. If you’re in the Roanoke Valley, ride on a Valley Metro bus. Shopping locally instead of ordering items that need to be shipped can also help reduce emissions.

Conserve energy and water usage

Help conserve energy and water usage by turning off lights when you exit a room and taking shorter showers. These small actions can add up over time.
