Arlington County’s beloved “Name that Plow!” competition is back! Residents have until Sunday, November 30 to submit name suggestions for the county’s snowplows. Last year, over 1,200 responses were submitted before a few dozen monikers were officially selected, including “Taylor Drift,” “Mr. Plow,” “Saline Dion,” and “Plowy McPlowface.”

The Department of Environmental Services (DES) will review the submissions and select around 60 snowplow names this year. Residents will be able to see and keep track of the newly named machinery throughout the winter on the snow and ice map found here. The official announcement for the competition reads, “The community is invited to suggest fun, memorable names for Arlington’s snowplow and salt truck fleet. Inspiration can come from the winter season, song/book/film/television titles, art, sports or any witty take on life in Arlington.”

Want to suggest a few names for the competition? We’ve got all the details for you below.

Here’s how you can submit your suggestions

If you and your family want to get in on the “Name that Plow!” fun, you can submit up to five names by clicking this link. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, November 30. Residents are reminded to make “fun and respectful” suggestions and to avoid anything “that could be considered offensive, political, or inappropriate.”

The form allows you to write in one name per suggestion box, and all entries must be 75 characters or less.

Good luck, and have some fun with it!
